Professor Emerita Dr. Nor Hayati Othman, President, IAP Malaysian Division (IAPMD)

Greetings from Malaysia!

I am  Nor Hayati Othman, President of the Malaysian Division of the International Academy of Pathology. I would like to welcome you and the pathologists and trainees of your country to join us for the 13th APIAP 2023 in Malaysia. It will be from June 6th to 18th 2023. At the bidding for this conference in Heiffei, we told you that the conference will be at our paradise island; Penang, but.....

Covid19 has caused a lot of havoc in our lives! We had a tough time deciding how would we conduct this event. Our decision flipped-flopped from physical to virtual conference several times over months. And finally after much deliberation and looking at the trend of COVID-19 infection globally and observing countries that have re-emergence of infection after they have somewhat freed themselves of COVID; we decided to host this event virtually. I know, we are going to miss meeting you physically. The decision to host it virtually is the best option we have for now.

We have arranged 20 sub-disciplines of pathology, see the website is https://www.apiap2023.com/.  All speakers are confirmed. This conference is a joint venture by members of the Malaysian IAP and the Malaysian Society of Cytology including forensic and oral pathologists in Malaysia. There are 5 concurrent sessions over 3 days, see the program at a glance at  https://www.apiap2023.com/ataglanceandondemand. The David Hardwick Memorial Lecture will be on the 18th of June 2023.

We are also honoured to be working together with the Chinese American Pathologist Association (CAPA). There will be a special Companion Seminars Breakout Session that will have many of the prominent speakers from the US, including a special session in Mandarin. Another collaboration is with  Hans Popper Pancreatobiliary Pathology Society, which will host a short seminar session

We are following somewhat like how the Japanese IAP organized APIAP2021. There will be on demand videos  (which can be viewed from 6th June 2023 and 1-month post live conference),  followed by 3-day live virtual sessions with Q&A on 16th until 18th of June 2023. Since you will not come to Malaysia, we will bring Malaysia to you. We will be showing live cultural shows from Malaysia as well as snap-shots of beautiful scenes of Malaysia,  hopefully, giving you the stimulus to visit us personally later when  time permits,

Kindly share the flier [attached] with pathologists and trainees of your country and other countries

Welcome to Malaysia for APIAP2023 virtually!
